One response to BFR869: Star Wars Fandom, The Simpsons and Dark Knight Rises

  1. Hey Fr. Roderick,

I live in Denver, and I was also there at that first Star Wars Celebration. I was one of those people out in the pouring rain and hiding underneath the display planes outside waiting to get in. Do you remember when the guys showed up in full Klingon dress, and were then “arrested” by the stormtroopers from the 501st? Great moment.

The first highlight for me of that first day was meeting Anthony Daniels outside one of the tents where he was talking to people and trying to keep people’s spirits up. He was such a nice guy…

The second was getting to hear Nick Gillard talk about creating the lightsaber combat style, and from Ray Park about Darth Maul. That was super-cool.

I went home that day soaking wet, but it was overall a great time. It’s really cool to hear that you were there, too.
