Fr. Roderick, I love this podcast! First, I am not (currently) a Catholic, although I was born, baptized and confirmed many years ago, I have since taken another path in faith, but with an abiding love and respect for the Catholic faith remaining. So, ever seeking for spiritual food to enjoy while I work (as a mailman) I gave your podcast a try, and now you have a new fan!
This not is regarding the new TV series “No Ordinary Family”. I watched the pilot episode this Tuesday, Sept. 28, and very much enjoyed it. I, too, was taken by the previews and ads during this summer, and the first show lived up to my expectations.
One thing that really caught my interest, was a sub-plot, involving the daughter. She’s in high school and is losing her boyfriend because she is saving herself for marriage, while other girls, alas, are not. She develops the power to read thoughts, and by the end of the show discovers her boyfriend is having sex with another girl, so she quits the relationship. I just hope this storyline remains. I hope they don’t take the typical Hollywood plot-line that involves her finding “true love” and compromising her morals. . .
This show has promise to entertainingly combine the drama of the family’s life (mom:workaholic, dad:frustrated with work, daughter: social misfit, son : academically challenged) with the sci-fi fantasy of superhero crime-fighters. (They’ve already vanquished one criminal with superpowers, and mom’s boss is his cohort) Let’s hope it doesn’t get absurd as Heros did, where practically everyone on earth had powers!
Anyway, thank you for doing this podcast, I feel as though I have found a new friend (on mp3).
God Bless You and your ministry Fr.
