Excellent podcast! Really liked what you had to say about how we must protect the liturgy, and how there are such important reasons for preserving the language.
You really whet my appetite regarding even the slightest notion of your producing a short series on what Vatican II accomplished. There’s a wonderful book by Ken Canedo (SpiritandSong.com) called “Keep the Fire Burning: the History of the Folk Mass Revolution.” It’s short but it has a wonderful history of the church after Vatican II. While Ken focuses on the music, he covers lots of other stuff too. If you ever think you might want to produce something on this subject. I highly recommend this book as it reads really well.
I loved Flash Forward and I wish it hadn’t gotten so convoluted. But when I first saw it, I couldn’t imagine how it could go on for a second season. The wrap-up isn’t too bad (not to give anything away . . .
I’ve been away from listening to podcasts for a long time so I didn’t realize all the great new shows SQPN had. Looking forward to sampling some during my work day.
Keep up the good work!

Hello Father Roderick
I’ve recently changed my living-place and had a lot of renovation-works to do, which gave me the time to listen to many podcasts.
So after I’ve already fallen of the radar of your “Breakfast-Shows” I am now at episode 739. You have gained so much qualitiy (in regards to the show contents) since your shows are rebrodcasted in radio that I really love to listen again and won’t miss a show.
Thank you very much und god bless

Thanks Father R. for your comments on the liturgy and Vatican-II. You are very fair in your comments. So many times these days, people try to portray the Vatican-II generation (which obviously includes myself) as a bunch of wild eyed radicals who wanted to destroy the Church. Nothing is further from the truth.
Many people like myself are not concerned about “correcting” the course, but we are concerned about attempts to “roll back” many of the changes of the Council.
I would take a small issue with your portrayal of those who chose not to wear clerical dress all the time. The intentions were good and in “those days” it was, in many places, a real way to come down off the pedastal and be with the people. I honestly feel that too many of our younger priests and seminarians these days seem to be more interested in setting themselves apart by wearing birettas, cassocks and the like. That does not mean ALL, but it does indicate to me too much emphasis on the clerical model of priesthood rather than the servant model.
